Selfless Service Without Attachment to Reward
Key message: Serve with everything you have, and let the credit go.

The Core Idea

Swami Vivekananda placed service to humanity at the heart of spiritual life, emphasising the dignity of every individual, the strength of character and the transformation of ideals into purposeful action. Seva Bhaav reflects a spirit of service in which work is undertaken as a duty, without making personal recognition, position or reward its aim.

How it shapes my approach

I draw on Vivekananda’s emphasis on character, self-belief, discipline and service. For me, Seva Bhaav means applying one’s knowledge, experience and capabilities to the welfare of society, while remaining humble about personal achievements. It encourages me to focus on the people served and the lasting value created, rather than on credit or recognition.

Application to strategy

I translate service into practical outcomes by developing strategies that enable people, strengthen communities and create sustainable public value. My pro bono seva in Kangundi and for Maa Godavari, and the earlier Maa Yamuna campaign, are built on these ideas. Through this work in social transformation, cultural tourism and river rejuvenation, I aim to contribute wherever experience and effort can make a meaningful difference. The spirit of Seva Bhaav also reminds me to stay committed to the work while accepting that its outcomes may lie beyond my control.

The Guiding Principle

Serve with all your ability, give without expectation, and stay committed to the purpose while detached from the reward.
