Major General Sanjay P Vishwasrao launched the Save Dal Lake theme song in March 2021 under his Kashmir Tricolour Revolution Strategy for Peace, to reconnect Kashmiris with their culture and nature. Dal tourism, once limited to shikara rides and houseboats, now includes water sports and floating villages in its backwaters. Best of all, the government shelved its plan to relocate Dal dwellers to the Jhelum floodplains, 20 km away.
